The Dutch Angle is popular in
MTVs and television commercials. The
horizontal axis is intentionally tilted
to disorientate (for psychological effect)
or for aesthetics. Unfortunately, it
is overused as a gimmick; which tend
to irritate than excite. In still photography
it should be applied even more sparingly
and carefully as the viewer lingers
on a particular frame longer. Arguably,
the angle (tilt) should be drastic enough
to differentiate it from common levelling
error.
Story: Who says
Klang is a boring town?
Interestingly, this dome is part of
a tiny Chinese temple in Klang (left).
I'm guessing it is either an architectural
quirk or a result of the overlapping
influence of our multi-cultural history
that, incidentally, includes Dutch.
