A temple caretaker removing surplus
joss-sticks. This smoke-filled temple
interior is a scene from the annual
Nine Emperor Gods Festival. View the
entire series of pics here.
Story: Sticky
problems.
This scene presented a number of interesting
challenges. Auto White Balance (AWB)
rendered a reddish image (left). The
mixed lighting combination of incandescent,
candlelight and daylight required several
manual white balance adjustments. I
settled for a setting where the smoke
is slightly bluish and the skin tones
slightly warm to preserve the ambience.
The camera was placed on the same table
holding the joss- stick urn and tilted
with a handkerchief acting as a wedge.
