I
was driving around a village when I
saw some kids repairing a bicycle under
a big shady tree. Together with the
bright city skyline, they provided a
perfect opportunity for a silhouette
picture.
Story: Be your
own judge
Most good camera exposure systems
figure something is wrong when the foreground
is exceedingly dark and will dutifully
compensate. The result is overexposed
background (left). To work around, zoom
in on the background and use exposure
lock to override the auto metering.
Recompose.
I also switched to aperture priority
mode and kept the iris wide for a shallower
depth of field. What's exposure lock
and aperture priority? Read your manual.
