Different
exposure, different effect. The external
wall of a gas station served as a handy
background for this study on exposure
latitude. Shuttered shop doors on Sundays
are another source of interesting backdrops
(left).
Story: Whatever
works for you
Top left: ISO 50, f.5, 1/500 sec
Slight underexposure creates a cool
and subdued effect.
Top right: ISO
50, f.4.5, 1/500 sec
Normal as determined by camera. Constrasty
and accurately captures the late afternoon
sun.
Bottom left: ISO
50, f.4, 1/320 sec
Slight overexposure defines hair texture
and brightens the background.
Bottom right: ISO
50, f.3.5, 1/80 sec
Reckless overexposure desaturates and
burns. An effect the MTV generation
has mostly grown to accept as normal.
