I've
always wondered about the final moments of those dazed chickens riding in crammed
cages. I finally trailed a truck to a slaughter house the other night. An assembly-line
style, mass killing machine processed every new arrival within minutes.
The
layout was just as efficient. The silent ones in the front row get to watch their
friends die and debone. From
the sporadic and eerie cries, I suspect a few were still conscious when they were
scalded or cut up. I didn't have the heart or guts to take a closer peek. Enjoy
