Covering
the Prime Minister's visit to Chinatown
with the compact G1 was like showing
up at a gunfight brandishing a butter
knife. That was what some of my media
friends on the scene thought when I
showed up. Without the benefit of a
longer lens (left), it seemed like an
impossible task.
Story: Plan B.
The problem was not so much the equipment
but the large turnout of supporters,
members of the public and tourists at
Petaling Street this morning. It was
almost impossible to move about, trapped
in the sea of people. The G1 has one
important advantage over the more expensive
DSLRs in such situations. Its articulate
LCD screen allows easy viewing and shooting
(with my arms fully extended) above
the crowd.
