KUALA KANGSAR - AN OFFBEAT PICTORIAL
by TV Smith

Kuala Kangsar was one of my stopovers in the continuing Landmarks Of Malaysia series. Situated in the north of Perak, this royal town is only 10 minutes away from the nearest North-South Highway exit. My guide and assistant was local resident and fellow blogger Hui Ling (razzberry.org). Mouse over individual image for commentary.

Hui Ling thinking about her nasal congestion.
Waiter! There's snot in my soup!
In KK, it's cendol and laksa, unlike KL's cendol and rojak. 2 cendols and 1 laksa for only RM 3.50 here.
The first ever rubber tree planted in Malaysia, more than a 100 years ago, is still alive and has mutated into a giant centenarian monster.
Cheapest ferry ride in town, in Malaysia. Just 20 sen to go across the Perak River.
A haunted mansion and a haunted car.
The famous All Boys Malay College and the butt of many local gay jokes.
A secret nuclear experiment gone wrong? Colourful cactus are sprouting in some parts of town.
A town full of stray pussies.
