Was
having coffee with Jeff Ooi and Daniel
Tang, when the latter received a call from his housemate about eerie vibrations
in their apartment. Daniel rushed home with no inkling of the ensuing tremours
across Malaysia. As I drove home several reports came in via mobile calls and
SMS. I also saw residents of several high rise buildings milling around the ground
floor.
The residents at Daniel's apartment in Frasers Towers, Jalan Gasing
were evacuated. Pummkin reported
tremors over at Jalan Syed Putra, Saffron
in Cheras, Suanie in PJ, Auyong
TC in Old Klang Road (lasting over 1 minute), Regina in Pantai, Jack Chang
in Lumut, Perak. Pok Ku said
he slept through it.
The shocking part is while people across the country
panicked, our automated radio stations and television channels remained oblivious,
with no timely updates or news when it matters most. However, NTV7 to its credit
has a breaking news style report at 1:30 am, seconds before the uploading of this
post.
