I got hold of a test unit from Olympus today and was planning to publish it into a series at the end of the test drive. Since there is so much excitement and interest on this camera, I've decided to upload the images on a daily basis as I run it through some real world tests...

I normally would not attempt fireworks without a tripod but the image stabilizer of this nocturnal camera offered new found freedom.

Hand-held at one-fifth of a second! The Ferris Wheel (Eye On Malaysia) is 60 metres tall and the fireworks shoot up to three times its height (at around 500 feet).

Max zoom (18 X) creates a nice compressed image with selective depth of field. The image stabilizer performed flawlessly when doing hand-held shots at such extreme focal length. All images here shot with camera NR disabled and no post-processing was applied except minimal unsharp mask and saved at 50% jpg compression.
